Birth photography is one of the most incredible gifts you can give yourself as well as your child. I capture all those moments that may be missed or forgotten during labor and delivery. Whether giving birth at home, at a hospital, or at a birthing center — a birth photographer allows your support team to focus on the needs of you and your addition soon to enter the world. I provide you with a professional photo-journalistic story of your birth experience and with beautiful images that will last a lifetime. I work unobtrusively to capture all the memories of this incredible time.
Birth photography is a specialized art that requires the proper knowledge, safety techniques and extreme patience to provide the professional results that clients can cherish. Memories are keepsakes and I understand their value. They are just as important to me as they are to you. I understand there are no do overs on this special day. I am quite the perfectionist, so you can expect exceptional work and beautiful photography. Your newborn will be handled with the upmost care during your session. I am always up to date on the flu and pertussis vaccine. I am a non smoker.
We will speak prior to your third trimester to talk in detail about what you would like to have captured as well as those moments you would like to remain private. We will discuss your birthing location and the other members of your birth team.
It is important to get clearance from your obstetrician and any on-call physician, labor and delivery staff, midwife or doula present at the birth. Let your doctor know that you want your birthing experience photographed and that you’ve hired me. I am happy to work with any restrictions your doctor might have.
You’ll want to contact me once you have gone into active labor and give me your room number. I will come to your birth when your healthcare provider determines you are in active labor. This is usually between 5-6 cm dilation. I will continue to document your experience for at least 2 hours after delivery.
In the event that you are birthing in a poorly lit delivery room i will have to use an on camera flash. It will be bounced off the ceiling. I will only use this when it is absolutely necessary. If flash is not something you want then you will be agreeing to sacrificing image quality drastically. Poor lighting in images will contain large amounts of grain and i will loose the ability to capture some moments.
Although all clients are asked to sign a model release, you remain in control of what images are shared on social media or kept in my portfolio. These are your personal and private images, and will remain just that should you choose.Though every effort is made to make it to your birth before your little one arrives, unforeseen circumstances do sometimes arise that could prevent me from making it. In the event that I am unable to attend your birth (illness/family emergency) I will contact my back up photographer that has been a photographer for over 12 years.
In the event of you not contacting me during labor and delivery you waive your deposit.
I am on call 24/7 from 38 weeks until the time of delivery
I require a %50 deposit at least 2 months before your due date. The remaining balance is due at 38 weeks.
Due to the nature of Birth Photography payments are non refundable.
